ROTD Hawkeye to take on the identity of Ronin in Avengers 4?

Let the fan guessing continue! There’s been some rumors mounting that Clint Barton could be assuming a new alter ego in the next Avengers movie. This is based on a few things, and we’re going to indulge in the wild speculation just for the thrill of it.

Firstly, Jeremy Renner has been filming Avengers 4 in Japan with a noticeably different hairstyle than we're used to seeing on Hawkeye (I mean, superheroes are allowed a haircut, right Thor?). Now, MCU Exchange are reporting a source saying that Barton will be appearing as the alias Ronin.

If you're not familiar, Ronin is the alias used by multiple characters in the Marvel Comics Universe. And as MCU point out, Barton has been known to take on a few different superhero identities in his time, making it (at the very least) a good guess of what might be around the corner. The site also claims that it has heard Barton will be left in a very “dark place” following the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers 4 is set to be released in May 2019 and will be the culmination of all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's 22 films that have either been released or are currently in production. You can get up to speed with everything we know about the project here.
