Josh Trank has debunked the most recent Fantastic Four scoop. Apparently Josh Gad isn't up for the role of the Thing.
@devincf first i'm hearing of this... it's not true.— Josh Trank (@josh_trank) January 28, 2014
Here's the original article below:
Fantastic Four has to be one of the most confusing reboots. The film's supposed to open in theaters next summer, yet Fox hasn't shot a single scene. Despite having a script and a director (Josh Trank), the main cast is M.I.A. Unfortunately, it's just been one rumor after the other, with no confirmations. So here's another one to throw on the casting fire.
According to Movies.com, Fox has its eye on Josh Gad to play Ben Grimm, aka the Thing. Apparently he's the studio's "number one choice" for the part that was previously played by Michael Chiklis. We can admit, 2005's Fantastic Four had a lot of problems, but we don't think the Thing was one of him.
Gad is a talented actor with theater, television and film credits to his name. He recently co-starred in the Steve Jobs biopic Jobs, and voiced a character in Disney's megahit Frozen. He also gave a breakout performance in the comedy musical Book of Mormon. Thus far, Gad's one of the few actors we've heard is a possibility for the Thing. Compared to the other characters, he may be the most difficult to cast.
Other names linked to the Fantastic Four reboot includes Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Kit Harington and Kate Mara.
Fantastic Four is slated to hit theaters June 19, 2015.
