Looks like Ben Affleck will headline more than one Batman solo movie.
Rumor is (so please remember to take this with a tiny grain of salt) that a recent private screening of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for Warner Bros. studio execs was such a success that they’re now planning not one, but three movies starring the actor as the Dark Knight.
An anonymous industry source told the good folks over at Den of Geek that a "near finished cut but not locked" version of Batman v Superman was screened for the film’s crew and Warner bosses and was apparently such a success that the Zack Snyder movie received a standing ovation, which was mostly aimed at Ben Affleck’s performance in the DC Comics superhero movie.
The source claims Warner was so impressed that the studio is now in the process of extending a "Golden deal" that would have the actor star in a new trilogy of Batman flicks. "Basically, Warners are now working their movie universe around Ben's Batman."
Not only that, but they also claim that as far as the WB powers-that-be are concerned, Affleck (who is co-writing his untitled Batman stand-alone reboot) is now the "definitive Batman." Whoa! Now, that's a pretty big vote of confidence for an actor who was basically reviled for his role of Matt Murdoch/Daredevil in the 2003 Marvel movie. Over the years, though, Affleck has proven himself to be a solid actor (and director) in recent movies such as Argo, The Town and Gone Girl.
Now, remember, this has NOT been confirmed by anyone over at Warner Bros., but if Ben Affleck’s performance as an older Bruce Wayne/Batman is as awesome as this inside source makes it seem to be, and they're now working on a new trilogy of films, we should get an official confirmation soon enough.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will arrive in movie theaters on March 25, 2016.
