Take this with a measured amount of skepticism, but it seems that the main villain for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 could be the biggest baddie ever. According to sources at Geek.com involved in the actual production, rumors are revealing that the intelligent immensity of Ego, The Living Planet will take up orbit around Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2. as a principal villain.
Ego is one of the eeriest and most interesting characters in the Marvel Universe, a living, thinking planetary body emerging from the Black Galaxy, a dark nebula located deep within the Milky Way. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1966 and first appearing in Thor #132, Ego was imbued with a hyperintelligent consciousness and could roam around the cosmos seeking to annihilate or conquer other planets and galaxies. The behemoth baddie has been injected into many Marvel storylines over the decades, including confrontations and showdowns with Thor, The Fantastic Four, Galactus, The Kree and the Mad Titan himself, Thanos. While still in the fuzzy realm of speculation, with no official confirmation by director James Gunn, it's still exciting to think this freaky formidable foe could be featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, set for release on May 5, 2017.
Does the idea of Ego, The Living Planet battling the Guardians sound like an epic altercation worthy of the franchise, or is the weird world just another problematic villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
