Warner Bros. has a ton of DC spinoff projects in the works, they just need some scripts and directors to bring them to life. Now we know who might be taking the reins of Aquaman.
Though the little-known Suicide Squad might seem like the biggest risk, the A-list cast of Will Smith and Margot Robbie (and whoever replaces Tom Hardy) should help alleviate some of the fear. The real project that could make or break the Justice League-verse? Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones).
He’s been the butt of jokes for years, and will arguably be one of the hardest properties to bring to life in a serious way — especially through the ultra-dark lens that is framing Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. The comics have found a way to do it right in recent years, but translating that to the big screen is a whole different ballgame.
So, who's on the short list to bring Aquaman to life? According to Latino Review, Warner Bros. is eyeing Jeff Nichols (Mud) and Noam Murro (300: Rise of an Empire), with Murro being the late addition to the race. Our bet: If this list is to be believed, Murro seems like the obvious choice.
The 300 sequel was a surprise hit (and not as bad as expected), not to mention the fact that Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder served as a producer on the project. Plus, you know, a lot of that one took place on the water. So there’s also that.
What do you think? Who would you like to see guide the Aquaman ship?
