The short list leaked out just a week ago, and now it sounds like we might already have a frontrunner to play the next Peter Parker now that Marvel is introducing Spider-Man into The Avengers.

Latino Review reports that young actor Asa Butterfield sits at the top of Marvel’s options, beating out Timothee Chalamet, Nat Wolff, Tom Holland and Liam James. The 18-year-old actor is likely best known as the star of 2013’s Ender’s Game, which was (admittedly) a box-office dud. But, in Butterfield’s defense, he did a solid job of carrying a so-so movie. Of the short list, he’s arguably the best-known actor — though, when you’re talking about playing Spider-Man, the role is bigger than any actor. So, that’s not too much of a factor here.

Considering Marvel is wanting to go younger for this version of Peter Parker, Butterfield’s baby face should be considered a plus. He’d also be a major change of pace from Andrew Garfield’s hipster Spidey, which seems to be something Marvel is keen on to make sure this version stands apart from the not-so-amazing Amazing movies.

Regardless of who Marvel signs, they need to make a decision soon: Spider-Man is already set to be a part of Captain America: Civil War, which starts shooting in earnest next month on the way to a rapidly approaching May 6, 2016, release date. Expect something very, very soon.
