Subtitles have become pretty popular ever since Marvel decided to drop its numbering scheme, and now it sounds like Spider-Man might also be getting in on the movie title fun.
There have been some rumblings that the Amazing Spider-Man sequel would have a longer title, but now it sounds like the studio has found a new option outside of rumored titles With Great Power and Price of Power.
Instead, Cinepop is reporting the film will go by the name The Amazing Spider-Man: Rise of Electro, reflecting the obvious impact of Jamie Foxx’s new super-powered baddie. If this is true, it’s possible the name might make its debut with the first full trailer, attached to The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug next month.
Of course, this is still a rumor at the moment. But it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Columbia Pictures opted to go this route — considering the success Marvel has had with Thor: The Dark World, and the anticipated success with Captain America: Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
What do you think of the title? Should they just stick with the numbering scheme, or would you prefer some nifty subtitles?
