Warning: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Spoilers Below!
OK, so, you know all those small hints director Zack Snyder has peppered throughout Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — the ones that led many fans to believe (including yours truly) that Darkseid would be the first Justice League movie's Big Bad? Yep, those ones. Apparently, they could turn out to be misdirection on the part of the powers-that-be.
According to Heroic Insider’s Umberto Gonzalez, sources have told him that during Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman's (Gal Gadot) search for Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Flash (Ezra Miller) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa), it will be the might of Atlantis our heroes will actually face, and not Darkseid and his Parademons, as we've so far been led to believe.
“Supposedly in Justice League, it’s a conflict with Atlantis, or sort of war with Atlantis early on in the movie. Remember in Batman v Superman, Diana and Bruce, at the end of the funeral, what is Bruce telling? We have to find the others to get them together. Supposedly they go down to Atlantis but Aquaman is not having any of it. And on top with that, the Amazonians and the Atlanteans don’t get along. They have like a thousand year conflict or something.”
Check out the video below -- Gonzalez's relevant tidbit starts around the 27:20 mark.
On top of that, the scoopster also hears that we’ll get to see the debut of the Bat-submarine, ‘cause that’s how Batman rolls, you know?
As I said, this is just a rumor for now, and Gonzalez himself even admits that it could all change. Also, even if the conflict with Atlantis is the main focus of Justice League Part One, that doesn’t mean Darkseid and Apokolips won’t show up in the movie. It’s possible they could be on their way at the end of the film in order to become the ultimate Big Bad the Justice League has to take down in Part Two. What do you think?
Justice League Part One will arrive in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.
