We've heard one of the Doctor's greatest nemeses is due for a return. Is this how it'll happen?
There's this huge gap between Time of the Doctor and the beginning of Capaldi's run, which basically leaves us with nothing but speculation, and as time marches on we're going to hear more and more of it. But this piece straight out of rumor-ville is just juicy enough to merit a mention.
We've been hearing for a few months now that the Master will be returning this year. Well, at a recent convention panel, 7th Doctor Sylvester McCoy apparently let slip that, yes, the Master would be back, but that he wouldn't be played by John Simm. He did, however, say that the actor had already been cast and that he is "very scary."
OK, so that's the first part of the rumor. The second concerns the casting of Samuel Anderson in the role of recurring character Danny Pink. Before the name of that character had come out, there had been some insider gossip that Anderson would be playing the Doctor's nemesis rather than his new companion.
Put it all together and what do we get? Danny Pink is actually the Master in disguise! And certainly there's precedent. The Master was in disguise most of the time during the classic series, and, all throughout series three he was pretending to be Harold Saxon.
So what do you think? Does this rumor carry any weight with you? And are you ready for the Master to come back?
