A hot rumor is making the rounds online concerning Godzilla director Gareth Edward’s Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One — and it has to do with the mysterious character Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) is set to play in a galaxy far, far away.
The fascinating RUMOR (so please take this with a grain of salt) comes from Meet the Movie Press, where Heroic Hollywood’s El Mayimbe dropped an intriguing tidbit concerning Jones’ character. The scooper said that Jones will actually play Boba Fett’s daughter, but didn’t elaborate much on the subject.
As most of you will already know, the storyline for Disney’s Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One centers around a group of rebels who attempt to pull a heist of galactic proportions by stealing the plans for the first Death Star. It’s been generally assumed that Felicity Jones would be playing the leader of the group, but rumors have also been floating around that various other characters would play a role — including Darth Vader and several bounty hunters.
Rogue One is set before the first movie of the series, Star Wars: A New Hope, and 20 years or so after Revenge of the Sith, the last of the movie prequels. Comic Book Movie points out the fact that Boba Fett was a kid around that time, and that it's impossible he'd already have a daughter in her early 20s by the time the events taking place in Rogue One are set in motion.
However, they also point out that Boba was a clone, and that it could be a possible factor in favor of Jones being the daughter of Star Wars' most famous bounty hunter. Could she be the daughter of one of his clones? CBM also posit that El Mayimbe’s info could be off (and that's possible, too), and that Jones will play Star Wars Rebels character Sabine, who wears a similar Mandolorian armor to Boba Fett in the animated series.
What do you think? Do you like the idea of Felicity Jones being Boba Fett’s daughter (or at least the daughter of one of his clones), or do you rather believe she’s playing Star Wars Rebels’ Sabine?
Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One will open in theaters on Dec. 16, 2016.
