Rumor of the day: Did Deadpool 2 drop its main villain in reshoots?

Remeber those Deadpool 2 reshoots that Rob Liefeld assured us were no big deal? Well, they might have done away with one of the movie's villains, Black Tom Cassidy, played by Jack Kesy. The rumor comes from film journalist Jeff Sneider, a co-host of Popcorn Talk Network's Meet the Movie Press. When the reshoots were first announced in March, it was said that they would be adding in more Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beets).

While we haven't seen Kesy (Death Wish) in any of the trailers, co-screenwriter and producer on the movie Rhett Reese took to Twitter to debunk the rumor with a simple "untrue" while quoting a report about Kesy being cut.

Based on the footage we've seen thus far, Cable and Wade are butting heads over some powerful mutant boy, but the two will probably become friends in the end. After all, it was Cable who originally formed the X-Force and once he strikes an alliance with Deadpool, they'll need a bad guy to fight in Act III. Cue the appearance of Mr. Cassidy.

Born in Dublin, Black Tom Cassidy (created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum in 1976) was the cousin of Banshee and had the ability to bond with and project energy through plant life. Unbenknownst to Banshee, Tom raised his daughter, Siryn, and made her a part of a criminal gang. Often an enemy of the X-Men and Deadpool, Cassidy was also known for his criminal partnership with Juggernaut before Juggernaut turned good guy.

Deadpool 2 curses its way into theaters with a hard R rating on May 18.
