J.J. Abrams will have to be working double-time to hit that summer 2015 release date for Star Wars VII, and rumor has it he already has an actor picked out to play the new Big Bad.
Unsubstantiated reports have surfaced out of Australia that John Noble, best known to sci-fi fans for his memorable role as Dr. Walter Bishop in Fox’s dearly departed Fringe, could be in negotiations to play the new villain in Star Wars: Episode VII.
It’s an interesting report, and if it turns out to be true, it could be a great move for the sequel. Noble has shown he has the range to play evil while portraying Walternate on Fringe, and he could definitely be formidable for whatever heroes step up in the latest Star Wars sequel.
Abrams and Noble have a long working relationship from Fringe, which Abrams helped create, and it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the director dig into his already ample pool of talented actors.
Do you think this would be a good casting move for Star Wars? Would you like to see an evil Walternate plague a galaxy far, far away?
