Warner Bros. already has a dozen or so DC films in development, and a new report claims we can toss another one onto the list.

Screen Rant reports a Harley Quinn vs. The Joker film is in the early stages of development at the studio, with DC Entertainment President & CCO Geoff Johns attached to produce. Take it with a grain of salt, of course, because DC’s film slate is pretty much a mess right now (Wonder Woman not withstanding). Ben Affleck is apparently on the way out, The Flash can’t keep a director, and Shazam! is moving forward with pretty much no creative team or cast in place.

So yeah, as messy as this has become, we’d believe Warner Bros. would want to make another movie with Margot Robbie in it. She was one of the best things about Suicide Squad, and the studio is already developing a Gotham City Sirens project that would also co-star Robbie. Fans weren’t quite as impressed with Jared Leto’s Joker, but who knows, a new approach could fix a lot of those issues. Or heck, they could always recast him. Again, it seems anything could happen when it comes to DC movies these days.

As for the creative potential for a Harley Quinn vs. The Joker film, it could absolutely be a lot of fun. Looking to the comics, Harley has become a strong, female anti-hero with some real agency who is one heck of a rich character. Seeing her move beyond that relationship with the Joker on-screen could be a great jumping off point for a movie.

If this is actually true, we might hear something about it tomorrow at the Hall H San Diego Comic-Con panel from Warner Bros. But, we wouldn’t count on it. DC can only lean on vaporware movies for so long. If anything, the studio is probably looking to showcase what it has in the can, with a heaping helping of Justice League on the menu, and likely an early look at Aquaman.

What do you think? Would you watch a Harley Quinn vs. The Joker flick?
