We'd already heard the Emperor might be back for the next Star Wars trilogy, but how would that happen, exactly?
At the beginning of the week, we started hearing that Ian McDiarmid would be reprising his role as the Sith Lord. Now we're starting hear exactly what shape that role may take.
As always, take this with a grain of salt, but the rumor is that the Emperor will not return as a clone. Instead he will be back as a Force ghost. Yes, just like Obi-Wan. The apparent difference being that, since Sith aren't the same as Jedi, the Emperor will still be able to interact with the world around him.
But that's not even the biggest part of the rumor. On top of all that, it will be revealed in Episode VII that the Emperor was already training a new apprentice. That apprentice would then become the villain for the new movies.
The reason for all of this is that, allegedly, the writers don't want to use any stories from the Expanded Universe books -- they want to do something totally fresh.
Remember, this is all rumors. Saying that -- what do you think? Is this a good way to go?
