The folks behind Fox’s Gotham series have been dropping hints they’ll introduce Batman’s archnemesis, the Joker, and now we know the strategy they’ll be taking with the character.
Though they’ve already cast a few future baddies, the one thing we haven’t had confirmed is who will be playing the (future) Joker. Well, Bleeding Cool reports there’s a good reason for that — they plan to tease out the reveal for at least the first season.
How? They’ll apparently introduce a character who could potentially become the Joker in each episode by “emphasizing aspects of the character’s iconography.” That means we can expect to meet characters like a comedian, flower salesman, clown, card sharp, etc. in different episodes during the first season.
Leaked intel from the pilot indicates we’ll meet a comedian played by Jon Beavers, who will apparently be the first Joker tease of many. To keep us on our toes even more, each character will apparently be played by a relative unknown, so stunt casting probably won’t give off the reveal.
This could get very gimmicky very quickly, but if it's played subtly it could be a fun little game. What do you think? Is this a good approach for introducing the character?
