It sounds like J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII might be looking to Joss Whedon’s Firefly-verse for its latest cast addition.

The folks at Jedi News are reporting that British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, aka the mysterious Operative who tracked Mal and his crew during Serenity, has signed on for a role in the upcoming Star Wars sequel.

Apparently the news has leaked via a not-so-secret meeting between Abrams and Ejiofor, though the specifics of the role have not been revealed. In addition to his well-known sci-fi role, Ejiofor also has a starring role in the acclaimed 12 Years a Slave, so he's definitely an up-and-comer.

So who could he play, if this news is actually true? There’s no telling, but he has the look of a potential Jedi (we know he has the action chops), or perhaps a new baddie.

What do you think? Who should he play?
