The big question swirling around the upcoming Venom movie for what seems like ages may have found its answer. Who’s playing Carnage? Today’s big rumor says that Woody Harrelson, who we know to be involved with the film in some capacity, has been confirmed as the serial-killing creep.
According to Bleeding Cool, which “has been told in a very confirm-y way” that Harrelson will be playing Cletus Kasady, aka the Venom-infected Carnage, we’ll be seeing Tom Hardy’s Venom face off against a killer with the same costume-driven powers as him — if not in this movie focusing on the parastic symbiote, then in the next.
That’s because, if we’re purely citing the rumor mill here, Carnage’s appearance in the film has been suggested to be more of a post-credits tease than a full role. That would explain why Harrelson’s pick has been secret, and why there are so many other high-profile actors associated with the film who could serve as the movie’s main antagonist.
And if you’re wondering if this might be an April Fool’s joke, seeing the publication date of the original story, Bleeding Cool has anticipated that too, insisting not only that this story is not a prank, but that they didn’t run any false content at all that day.
So, as far as rumors go, it’s at least solid enough for those spreading it not to take the easy way out by claiming the holiday. Either way, we’ll be finding out for sure when the superpowered movie is released on October 5, 2018.
