Rumor of the Day: Twilight reboots ALREADY in the works?

It seems Twilight mania may still be far, far from over. Though Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn 2 is still a few months away from hitting theaters, rumor has it the studio is already prepping a round of reboots to keep Edward and Bella on the big screen for another decade or so.

The report comes courtesy of Bloody Disgusting, which says that talks are already afoot behind the scenes and that something could come out within the next few years to keep the franchise from going too stale:

It is still undecided exactly what the future of the franchise will be, though. It could be a direct remake, considering the initial saga is so poorly made, but then again it could also be a spinoff or maybe even a one-off sequel. It could be anything to keep the green bills piling high. But expect a remake. Yes, quickly.

Lionsgate's needs a fresh franchise to run alongside the Tyler Perry and Saw films that fueled them through the 00′s. Now that they have Summit, and The Hunger Games franchise, revising Twilight from another studio's perspective could be just what the doctor ordered...

Not too surprisingly, Summit Entertainment issued a quick denial via Deadline, but left the door wide open if Stephenie Meyer wants to keep the franchise going:
"We are not remaking Twilight. We will happily support Stephanie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one unless that should change."
The whole thing admittedly seems a little crazy, but considering the financial bonanza that has been the Twilight saga, you have to think that anything is possible. Plus, if Amazing Spider-Man turns out to be a hit, it will at least be some proof that a quick turnaround on a reboot can be successful.

What do you think? Will Breaking Dawn 2 be the last of Twilight, or is there more in the offing?
