It looks like James Mangold's The Wolverine might not be the only chance we get to see Hugh Jackman kick ass as everyone's favorite adamantium-wielding mutant. In a move that could make Days of Future Past the greatest X-Men film ever, it looks like Hugh Jackman might also be along for the ride.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackman is in talks to reprise his role in Bryan Singer's X-Men: First Class sequel. Considering we already know that former X-Men stars Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are already coming back, it's no surprise that Jackman is also in the mix—and might not be the only one once it all shakes out.
The film is based on the acclaimed early 1980s storyline about an alternate future where mutants are rounded up and sent to concentration camps. With the present-day and prequel cast all coming together, it seems the story will stay at least partially true to that concept.
Jackman is easily one of the coolest things about this franchise as a whole (X-Men Origins: Wolverine notwithstanding), so it's good news that he's coming back for the latest installment. But with several main cast members from the original trilogy now in talks for the First Class sequel, you have to wonder how they're going to fit everyone in without this thing feeling like a bloated cameo-fest.
But if anyone can do it, Singer's the man. Jackman's brief cameo in First Class worked well, so fingers crossed.
What do you think? Do you want Jackman to show up in Days of Future Past?
