Along with the recent report that Ocean Master will be the big bad villain duking it out with Jason Momoa’s King of the Seven Seas in the first standalone Aquaman movie, JoBlo had some intriguing details about a possible Teen Titans superhero film and the previously announced Green Lantern Corps.
Before we move on, please remember to take this with a grain of salt.
First off, the site claims that Warner Bros. is considering expanding its current trend to provide more (and better) roles for women and minorities. As was revealed last week, the studio is looking to cast a “non-white” actress in the role of Mera for Aquaman. One of the ways they’re planning to do just that includes a possible Birds of Prey movie (via a rumor over at Latino-Review) led by Black Canary and Batgirl/Oracle.
Making a Teen Titans movie is also under consideration, and JoBlo says WB may actually merge it with the already announced Cyborg film instead of doing a solo movie. As some of you guys may already know, a live-action Titans TV series is also in the works at TNT, with Nightwing set to lead the young superhero team that will include Barbara Gordon, Hawk and Dove, as well as Raven and Starfire.
As for the Green Lantern Corps flick, JoBlo claims that Hal Jordan and John Stewart will work together in a “Lethal Weapon in space” team-up sort of thing, and that there are talks that the powers-that-be will include a gay superhero in the DCEU. There’s no mention of who it could be, or even when this would happen, besides the fact that it'll be a major character.
What do you think of Warner Bros.’ plans to aim for a bigger and more diverse movie universe?
