After initially appearing in the third season of FX's American Horror Story in 2013, they were brought back for this year's AHS: Apocalypse to face off against the Antichrist himself (played by Cody Fern) and literally save the world from ending. Incidentally, the Antichrist turned out to be the kid from the show's first season, AHS: Murder House. They grow up so fast.
Now it appears that Murphy will put the coven into play once again. While at his Walk of Fame ceremony Tuesday in Los Angeles, the AHS mastermind told Entertainment Tonight that "The witches will be back. Not next season, though, but we have something really fun planned."
While they suffered some losses, the majority of the coven did end up surviving the events in AHS: Apocalypse, so it'll be interesting to see what Murphy and company have up their sleeves.
AHS: Apocalypse marked the eighth go-round for the acclaimed anthology series, which tells an all-new story every season. Given that the show's already been greenlit through Season 10, even if Murphy doesn't bring them back right away, he could have something big in store for the milestone 10th season.
As for next year's Season 9, Murphy said he does have a storyline already planned out, but "can't say what it is," since he hadn't yet told his reliable troupe of actors about it. "I have to tell them first," he added.
