Anticipation is high for the new streaming series created by Robert Aguirre-Sacasa and starring Kiernan Shipka in the title role, particularly since the show promises a truly chilling, spooky experience for fans of the more horror-driven Chilling Adventures comics. The trailers have all looked very promising, the buzz has been growing for weeks, and now we're just hours away from finally seeing it. For viewers of a certain age, though, there will always be another Sabrina in our hearts.
Melissa Joan Hart played Sabrina for seven seasons on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, a hit sitcom that debuted on ABC in 1996 and finished out its run on The WB in 2003. That show was very different in tone, chronicling the daily life of a young witch just trying to figure magic out, but it's still beloved by fans. The original cast of Teenage Witch knows this, and just to show there are no hard feelings, they recorded a little "Best Witches" (Get it?) greeting for the new stars of Chilling Adventures.
In the video above, Hart (Sabrina) teamed up with her Caroline Rhea (Aunt Hilda), Beth Broderick (Aunt Zelda) and Nate Richert (Harvey) to send luck to Kiernan Shipka (Sabrina), Lucy Davis (Aunt Hilda), Miranda Otto (Aunt Zelda), and Ross Lynch (Harvey). It's a brief but very sweet video that reminds us how much we loved the original cast, and how much we're looking forward to a very different life for Sabrina Spellman on Netflix.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina arrives Friday.
