Sackhoff reveals Battlestar ending she fought for (and lost)

The drawn-out finale to Ronald D. Moore’s Battlestar Galactica rubbed more than a few fans the wrong way, but if star Katee Sackhoff had her way, there’d have at least been one major change.

As most fans know, a portion of the narrative was framed around Starbuck’s (Katee Sackhoff) relationship with Apollo (Jamie Bamber), with the two lovers on again and off again for much of the series' run.

Well, it turns out that wasn’t who Sackhoff thought Starbuck should’ve ended up with. Forget Apollo. Remember Sam Anders (Michael Trucco), the super-cool Pyramid player and Starbuck’s husband for a while there? Well, that’s apparently who Sackhoff considered Starbuck’s true love.

Here’s an excerpt from a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly:

"I always wanted Starbuck to end up with Anders, and I think I probably pushed it that direction, so there's some fans that, like, hate me because they were like, 'No, Apollo! We love Apollo!'”

It’s interesting to think how the series might’ve played out if Sackhoff had won that battle, but the relationship between Apollo and Starbuck was central to the show — and it set up some of Anders’ best storylines.

So who do you think Starbuck should’ve ended up with?
