CBS' summer series, Salvation, will be returning for a second season.
The Alex Kurtzman produced series follows a pair of tech geniuses who discover that an asteroid is just months away from colliding with Earth. They bring their findings to the Pentagon, where they learn the United States is on the brink of nuclear war.
Salvation stars Santiago Cabrera (Transformers: The Last Knight), Jennifer Finnigan (Tyrant), Charlie Rowe (Walking With Dinosaurs 3D), and Jacqueline Byers (Roadies). Alex Kurtzman has a long history with science fiction, from Star Trek: Discovery to Xena: Warrior Princess.
Back in July, we spoke with co-creators Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro (Extant), who gave us the full scoop on Season 1, while also looking towards the future. According to Kruger:
"This is not a story about an asteroid coming to Earth. This is a story about what happens when people discover an asteroid is coming to Earth. This first season, the question of the first 13 episodes is: Will we destroy ourselves before the asteroid gets here? We're building to a climax that in some ways is not quite predictable. This is not a show that has 11 seasons in it, but there are places to go once we either deflect the asteroid or the asteroid does hit."
We'll see all the places Salvation goes when it returns to CBS in the summer of 2018 with a 13 episode order. Did you watch Season 1? What are you hoping to see in Season 2?
