“I don’t want to stop living just because I’m undead!”

Everyone’s favorite undead man-eater Sheila Hammond (Drew Barrymore) is back. The official trailer for Season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet is out, and it appears that Sheila is getting more aggressive — even as she loses fingers due to decomposition.

In Santa Clarita Diet, husband-and-wife realtors Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and Sheila live in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenage daughter Abby (Liv Hewson) when Sheila dies and becomes a zombie. Hey, no family is perfect.

Having been chained up in the basement to keep herself and the neighbors safe, Sheila is “going a little crazy” and needs to get out. Abby is justifiably worried that her mom is going to go out and kill somebody. “But,” Sheila points out, “think about all the people I haven’t killed. Literally everyone in the world except three people,” she says. Well, if she puts it that way…

In Season 2, the Hammonds try to adapt to Sheila’s undead state, maintain work-life-death balance, and try to find the source of the zombie virus to stop it from spreading. Unfortunately, while the family is getting disturbingly good at killing people, the number of missing people in Santa Clarita is starting to grow, and people are starting to notice.

Season 2 promises to offer a new cop getting up in the Hammond family’s business, more dismemberments, more blood-splattered walls, and appearances from Joel McHale, Maggie Lawson, Gerald McRaney, and Andy Richter. And oh, yeah — a very friendly severed head who introduces himself as Gary. Though as polite as Gary’s dismembered head is, Abby just can’t even right now.

Santa Clarita Diet returns to Netflix on March 23.
