After Patty Jenkins officially negotiated her directing job for the Wonder Woman sequel, everyone wants a piece of the female-led blockbuster pie. Now one of TV’s biggest actresses has thrown her superhero hat into the ring.
American Horror Story mainstay Sarah Paulson responded on Twitter to a suggestion that she play Wonder Woman villain Cheetah. Take a look:
Tagging Jenkins in her response, Paulson advocates for a role as the complex villain -- often an initial friend to Wonder Woman until something goes horribly awry -- who is one of the few notable baddies in her rogues gallery.
The first film dealt with gods and human foes in the context of war, but if the sequel goes a different, even more personal direction, Cheetah could be the perfect answer -- especially after the female Dr. Poison from the first film turned out to only be a tertiary threat when considering the film’s men.
Details surrounding Wonder Woman 2 are scarce aside from a few rumors about the film’s setting, but the script will be written by Geoff Johns, Jenkins, and The Expendables’ David Callaham.
The release date for the sequel is currently scheduled for November 1, 2019, but a lot can happen between now and then -- including the casting of Sarah Paulson.
