For more than a week now, we've all been talking about the glimpses of footage we got in the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the eagerly anticipated return to the Star Wars universe by director J.J. Abrams. The trailer is notable for its showcasing of the franchise's new stars, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac, but it's just as notable for what it didn't show us -- namely, the franchise's original leads. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are all set to reprise their respective roles of Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Han Solo for the film, but apart from a few glimpses of Mark Hamill's beard, we don't quite know what to expect from the aged versions of these characters yet.Â
That's where Saturday Night Live comes in. Over the weekend, in their first show of the holiday season, the cast and crew of the iconic comedy series took a stab at their own cut of The Force Awakens trailer, and this time they focused on the lives of the original trilogy characters, including Han (Taran Killam), Leia (Bobby Moynihan), Luke (host James Franco) and Lando (Kenan Thompson). As you'll see below, the 30 years since Return of the Jedi haven't exactly been kind to our old friends, particularly Luke, who has to get around with the help of a rather distinctive walker.Â

Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters next December, hopefully with more sprightly versions of Han, Luke and Leia.
