Paramount has unveiled a pair of stunning IMAX posters for their live-action Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson as Section 9 leader Major Motoko Kusanagi, aka The Major.
Directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) from a screenplay by Jamie Moss (Street Kings), the sci-fi film is based on the 1989 manga series created by Masamune Shirow and the 1995 anime. The two posters below show The Major busting through a window with guns blazing (a scene that was shown many times in previous trailers) and a close-up look at the weird and wonderful Robo Geisha.
Along with ScarJo, Ghost in the Shell stars Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones) as The Major's right-hand man Batou, Michael Pitt as the villainous Kuze, Takeshi Kitano as Lt. Col. Daisuke Aramaki and Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet. Rounding out the cast are Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara and Tuwanda Manyimo.
Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, Ghost in the Shell follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic's advancements in cyber technology.
Ghost in the Shell opens on March 31.
