Could Independence Day and Jurassic Park actor Jeff Goldblum come to a theater near you in a superhero movie role? Apparently, yes.

During a chat with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz about Independence Day: Resurgence, Jurassic World -- Goldblum’s chaos theorist character, Ian Malcolm, didn’t return in the dino-filled movie sequel but did appear in a cameo of sorts when a copy of his book, “God Creates Dinosaurs,” was seen on Lowery’s (Jake Johnson) desk -- and more, Goldblum was asked if there was some truth to the rumors he’d met with studio powers-that-be for a role in either a Marvel or DC superhero movie.

The actor remained coy (if it's for a Marvel movie, I'm sure they have their snipers at the ready) in his answer, not confirming anything outright; but he did tease that he may have already met with someone for a role in a comic-book film. “I can say very little right now,” Goldblum said, “but you might be onto something. You might be.”

There are plenty of superhero movies coming up in the next couple of years on both the Marvel and DC side Goldblum could be in the running for, and I seriously can’t think of any one role I’d love to see the actor tackle. My brain is currently overloading on the many possibilities.

As for whether the actor is a DC or Marvel guy, he seemed to be taken aback by the question, not really giving an answer. Methinks Mr. Goldblum isn't a comic-book reader per se, not that there’s anything wrong with that. As long as we don't have another Fantastic Four debacle on our hands, I'm perfectly fine with it.

What do you think? Would you love to see Jeff Goldblum starring in a superhero movie? Which comic-book character would you love to see him play? Jeff Goldblum returns to battle aliens in Independence Day: Resurgence on June 24.
