From historical fantasy to "cosmic horror," the mind of George R.R. Martin never rests — and if you've ever wanted to take a look inside that head — this is about the closest you can get for now.

As the cast and crew of Nightflyers descend on San Diego Comic-Con 2018 to give a sneak peek of their highly anticipated new series, SYFY WIRE has an exclusive behind the scenes clip of the Game of Thrones mastermind's latest television offering.

And by the looks of things, Nightflyers should give Alien a nice run for its money in the chills department.

Based on his 30-year-old sci-fi/horror novella of the same name, the series follows a crew of scientists on the starship Nightflyer on a voyage to the edge of the solar system where they plan to make contact with alien life. Only this is no pleasure cruise as they quickly find themselves plagued by horrible events that put the entire mission in jeopardy.

"Nightflyers takes us to different places, unexpected places, places that will hopefully terrify you," Martin comments in the video. "No one is safe."

The show, adapted for television by Jeff Buhler, stars Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire), Eoin Macken (The Night Shift), David Ajala (Fast & Furious 6), Sam Strike (EastEnders), Maya Eshet (Teen Wolf), Angus Sampson (Fargo), Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship), and Brían F. O'Byrne (Million Dollar Baby).

It's set to debut on SYFY, natch, this fall. You can also check out the first full trailer below.
