Most of you know Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina the Teenage Witch. But now we’re going to know her as the director and co-executive producer of the TV movie, The Watcher in the Woods…
…along with her co-executive producer Paula Hart, aka Joan's mom.
This mother/daughter venture is a reimagining of the 1980 horror movie starring Bette Davis. In it, a young girl tries to learn the fate of her lookalike who disappeared 30 years prior. As Melissa Hart says in our interview below, the original film flailed over the sci-fi aspects of the story, so she decided to make it a ghost tale.
Best of all, they managed to snag the incomparable Anjelica Houston for a role. How did they do it? We’ll just let the Harts speak for themselves below.
The Watcher in the Woods will air on Lifetime on October 21.
