The Man in the High Castle is going from alternate history to alternate worlds in its third season.
At San Diego Comic-Con today, a trailer from the upcoming season premiered, which suggests that the show is embracing a focus on the multiverse theory. Mixed in with the terrifying Nazi and fascist imagery is talk of different worlds and a machine that can send a person to different universes - one that needs to be destroyed. The tagline for Season 3, "Fight for the world you want," offers a beautiful double-meaning that ties into the idea of the multiverse.
Other news to break at the panel: the premiere date of Season 3, which lands on Amazon Prime on October 5th. And before Season 3 has even premiered, it was announced that Season 4 was already picked up by Amazon. Jason O'Mara (Agents of SHIELD) has joined this season as a series regular, playing Wyatt Price, an Irish refugee who fled to New York to avoid the Nazi invasion, but finds himself fleeing again, and setting up in the Neutral Zone.
Interestingly, on The Man in the High Castle Twitter page, a tweet warns there are only two seasons left. Does this mean Season 4 will be the final season?
The Man in the High Castle explores an alternate history in which the Axis Powers won World War II, and the Japanese and the Nazis rule over America with fascist fists. The show stars Rufus Sewell, Stephen Root, Bella Heathcoate, and Alexa Davalos, and is based on the novel by Philip K. Dick.
