Bucky Barnes, The Winter Soldier

Sebastian Stan isn't entirely sure he'll be in Avengers 4

There have been no shortage of secrets surrounding next year's follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War. The film is due in theaters this coming May, and so far there's no trailer (or even an idea of when we'll see one), or even a title — hence everyone referring to it as Avengers 4

Now, it seems that Sebastian Stan, the man behind The Winter Soldier, isn't even sure he'll be in it. In an interview with Collider, Stan said that his character — one of many who perished after Thanos' snap — might not make an appearance at all.

"When I was shooting anything, nobody ever told me what was part one or part two," Stan explained. "The truth is, I don’t even know if I’m in [Avengers 4]. What I shot was in part one. And anything that I shot may or may not have been in part one or part two and I still don’t know. There were things that we shot that were never gonna’ make it because it was easier to just convolute the whole thing. So in a way, you go 'Alright, that’s cool, but…'"

Really it seems like Stan doesn't know where all that footage will show up, and from the sound of it, they filmed a lot of scenes that were never intended to make the final cut just to thwart any potential spoilers — similar to what they did with Loki. Or Stan could be doing damage control after he may have accidentally given away some key spoilers back in April.

Whatever the case, Stan seems confident that Avengers 4 will be a worthy payoff nonetheless: "You know it’s going to deliver on a level that we probably haven’t even digested yet. Because that’s what they do best."

While much of Avengers 4 remains under lock and key, one thing we know for sure is that Stan will be reprising his role for an upcoming series with Anthony Mackie's Falcon that will be exclusive to Disney+.
