See how Pacific Rim SHOULD have ended (with Voltron and Godzilla, duh!)

Guillermo del Toro's giant-robot movie is ridiculous amounts of fun, but it could have been so much better.

We all know that Pacific Rim is paying homage to an entire genre of Japanese animation. Considering that, despite all the nods made to TV shows and movies that came before, del Toro did not decide to outright cross over with the giant robots and monsters of our nostalgic youth. Bless HiSHE for picking up the slack.

I'm just grateful I wasn't the only one who thought of Voltron when the sword came out. That's how you beat giant monsters when robot lions and a robot guy made from those lions doesn't work -- a deus ex machina sword.

Also, huge bonus points for the Megazord showing up in a cleanup capacity. Not sure about Randy Quaid, though. Personally, if it's got to be Independence Day, Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith are obviously the way to go.

Regardless, we now demand that the Pacific Rim sequel star Godzilla.
