The latest trailer for Stephenie Meyer’s sci-fi thriller The Host finally breaks down some of the plot, and gives us a much better look at the mysterious alien invasion.

Based on the book by Meyer (Twilight), The Host follows a young woman who is one of the last free humans left battling against a parasitic alien invasion. The film stars Saoirse Ronan (Hanna The Lovely Bones) and is directed by Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, In Time).

Having Niccol attached could be a good thing, seeing as Gattaca is a bona fide modern classic. But the so-so In Time left a lot to be desired.

The new trailer gives us a look into how the aliens operate, and tries to show and explain the alien force that is taking over humanity. It’s definitely a tough sell to translate from the page to the screen, but it looks like NIccol is taking some Bourne-like action cues to keep it entertaining.

Check out the new trailer below:

The film opens March 29. Are you interested in seeing Meyer’s take on aliens, after all these years of sparkly vampires?
