While many fans in San Diego are camping outside Hall H hoping for a peek at the live-action Justice League this weekend, their animated counterparts have already been given the spotlight. During a Thursday panel, fans in the room got a sneak peek at the first episode of Justice League Action, a new all-ages animated series set to debut on Cartoon Network this fall.
While those of us not in San Diego will have to wait to catch the full 11-minute episodes, we can get a first glimpse of the new show in the action-packed (pun intended) sizzle reel right now! The video features the Justice League icons you’d expect—Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman—alongside some deeper cuts into the DC Universe, such as Firestorm, Toyman, Swamp Thing, Dex-Starr, Plastic Man, Space Cabbie and much more!
As announced back in January, the series boasts an outstanding voice cast, with Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill and Tara Strong reprising their Batman: The Animated Series roles as Batman, The Joker and Harley Quinn, respectively, and will be accompanied by Rachel Kimsey as Wonder Woman, Jason Lewis as Superman and James Woods as Lex Luthor. Some surprise additions to the cast were also revealed at the panel, with Community’s Ken Jeong joining the cast as Toyman, Broad City’s Hannibal Buress as Mr. Terrific and Ratatouille’s Patton Oswalt as Space Cabbie.
Justice League Action looks to be a zany and fun show that will combine the best elements of Warner Bros.’ past animated DC classics, like Teen Titans, Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Watch the highlight reel below, and let us know if you’ll be tuning in for new Justice League adventures this fall.
