How long has it been since you watched Star Maidens? And if you just thought, "Wait, what’s that?" – grab onto something. It was on this day in 1976 that the British/German television show Star Maidens premiered.

The show ran for only 13 episodes but has since gained something of a cult status. It's basically Firefly in the '70s. The supposedly super-progressive concept, "Women rule a planet and arrive on Earth, horrified to learn that men rule it,” was actually undercut in the finale, when it turns out the women can't fight and flee for home. They are, in fact, saved by men. So. Hooray for Camp! But Booooo the patriarchy.

It was also on this day that Yvonne DeCarlo was born in 1922. DeCarlo played the role of Lily Munster on The Munsters from 1964-1966.

She reprised the role for the feature film Munster, Go Home! (1966) and the TV movie The Munsters' Revenge (1981). DeCarlo died in January 2007.

Tomorrow: Keanu freakin' Reeves!
