It was on this day in 1994 that Mega Man premiered as a Saturday morning cartoon.

Mega Man was a Capcom game, following the adventures of a lab assistant who volunteered to become a fighting robot when his boss's robot bad-guys spun out of control.

The cartoon didn’t run for very long, speculatively because the audience that had embraced the video game years prior had aged out of interest. But fortunately, the show has been cued up for a reboot premiering on Cartoon Network in 2018.

Today is also the birthday of Virginia Madsen, born in Chicago on this day in 1961. She is brilliant. She was, of course, in 1992’s Candyman, but her greatest work, arguably, was as Princess Irulan in Dune. The extended clip, team:

Today is also the birthday of Kristy McNichol. Gang, it’s been too long since you’ve seen The Pirate Movie. Proof:

Tomorrow: The Blob.
