September 19 in Sci-Fi History: The Start of Adam West

It was on this day in 1928 that Adam West was born. He is, inarguably, the standard bearer for television superheroes.

Born in Walla Walla, Washington, West attended Whitman College and studied psychology. He worked as a milkman before he became an actor, and his first major role was in The Young Philadelphians, opposite Paul Newman.

But mainly, he was Batman.


West died earlier this year and fans, friends, co-stars and pretty much everyone else emerged to honor him. Family Guy also put together this spectacular tribute to West:


Also, it was on this day in 2014 when The Maze Runner premiered.


The Maze Runner flicks are weirdly good movies with some solid action sequences and interesting ensembles. They get cast aside a lot, but we find them super watchable. Now that they're back in action following a nasty accident, we're pretty excited for what's to come.
