September 5 in Sci-Fi History: Happy Birthday Michael Keaton

On this day in 1951, Michael Keaton was born in Corapolis, Pennsylvania. We're huge fans and we're not alone. In fact, if you look at a lot of the Geeky Q&As we've been rolling out for SYFY's 25th Anniversary, you'll find that he is pretty much everyone's favorite Batman.

Let's also recall how unbelievably great he was in Beetlejuice (1988).

And then there was Birdman (2014), which you either loved or hated but in which Keaton turned in an amazing performance.

Another birthday worth celebrating loudly and from the rooftops today? Raquel Welch turns 77 today and looks spectacular. Born in Chicago, Welch's breakout role was in Fantastic Voyage (1960).

From there, she went on to star in One Million Years B.C. (1966).

Welch had a long and storied film career and continues working to this day. She most recently appeared this year in Ken Marino's How to Be a Latin Lover. If you'd like to wish her well, she's on Twitter here.

Tomorrow: Dark side of the third rock from the sun.
