Fox TV has revealed another new addition to its Fall 2017 line-up, which teams Seth McFarlane and Jon Favreau for the Star Trek-inspired The Orville.

As expected, this isn't a drama. The Orville is more than happy to add a little slapstick and a lot of humor to life aboard a starship, and I'll admit to some laugh-out-loud moments in the official trailer below. The banana bit being one of them. There's also a guest appearance by Victor Garber, which is always a plus.

The one-hour science fiction series is set in the 25th century, where Earth is part of the Planetary Union (sound familiar?), who have so many ships that they're not too picky about captains.

Enter McFarlane as Ed Mercer, The U.S.S. Orville's newest commander who's trying to get his captaining life back on track when his ex-wife Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki) is assigned as First Officer. The rest of the grumbling crew includes best friend, Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes), Dr. Claire Finn (Penny Johnson Jerald), an alien named Bortus (Peter Macon) who is part of a single-sex species; artificial lifeform Issac (Mark Jackson); navigator John Lamarr (J. Lee”); security officer Alara Kitan (Halston Sage); and Yaphit, a gelatinous creature voiced by Norm Macdonald.

In short, don't take it too seriously and you'll probably get a kick out of it. Intrigued?
