The weather is getting crazy deadly, again, later this year.

In a move that surprises literally no one, Syfy and The Asylum have formally announced plans for Sharknado 5. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid have signed on to return for the sequel (the official title of which is still pending, though I'm betting on 5HARKNADO). Original cast member Cassie Scerbo, who played Nova, is also attached to return as the bartender turned Sharknado fighter. Principal photography on the film kicked off today, and the action is expected to jump between several different countries.

According to Syfy, the fifth film sees the deadly weather phenomenon of shark-infested storms bombard cities around the world, including the UK and Australia. Anthony C. Ferrante, who directed the first four films, is also back to take on the latest installment. The script for Sharknado 5 was written by Scotty Mullen (The Coed and the Zombie Stoner).

So yeah, if you dig the first four films, this one should be right up your alley.

Anyway, that's right: the Sharknado is going global. Fin and the gang will be tasked with protecting the entire world, because hell, why not?
