No sooner had the last bitter tear dried on our weather-beaten faces as the end credits rolled on The Last Sharknado: It's About Time when word came along that the franchise would, mercifully, be getting a second life — this time as a virtual reality video game.

Developer Autum VR has announced it’s already hard at work on the official game version of SYFY’s campy cult comedy, revealing the new, cross-platform Sharknado VR: Eye of the Storm will be available before the end of the year. The game aims to take players inside the silly action for a shark’s eye view of all the guts, screaming, and ridiculous kills we’ve come to know and love over the course of six Sharknado movies

“In Sharknado VR: Eye of the Storm, players find themselves in the middle of the gory action as they battle freak, fin-filled weather phenomena,” Autumn VR producer Dave Hansen helpfully explained in the game's announcement release. “It’s a great blend of humor and terror which should appeal to everyone! I mean, who hasn’t fantasized about blowing away a great white coming for them with a bazooka?”

With all the celebrity cameos the Sharknado series has racked up over the years, he’s kind of got a point. Autumn VR promises to deliver a game that takes players back to locations from the films, including “locales from LA to NYC to Kansas and more.” Along the way you’ll have to come to violent terms with jellyfish, barracudas, and — yes, wave upon wave of sharks — while encountering “a few new surprises not seen in the films,” as well as some franchise Easter Eggs.

If you’re one of the VR holdouts who’s always thought you’d look goofy wearing those giant goggles, this may be your perfect entry point into the world of virtual gaming. After all, with a game like this, the goofiness is a feature — not a bug. Sharknado VR: Eye of the Storm takes a big bite out of dignity and decorum later this year via PlayStation VR, Oculus, Steam, iOS, and Android.
