Shatner rejects Takei's call for peace in that Trek vs. Wars feud

Last month, George Takei did his level best to broker an armistice in the amusing war of words between Star Trek's William Shatner and Star Wars' Carrie Fisher, urging fans of both franchises to unite against the Twilight threat. Now Shatner has officially responded with a refusal to give up the battle, at least until he gets "retribution."

In a very brief video posted Monday on his YouTube channel, Shatner first aired a sampling of Takei's own comments, and then gave his retort.

"No, no, no, George. You're the greatest threat to equanimity and peacefulness," Shatner said. "You've carried on a feud for all these years. You can't just dissolve it in a matter of words. Retribution must be paid, George. I need retribution."

In case you need a refresher, this all started back in September, when Shatner blasted Star Wars as inferior to Star Trek, but got a little flirty with regard to Princess Leia. Then the princess herself, Carrie Fisher, fired back with her own set of tongue-in-cheek, anti-Trek comments. Shatner responded with a much more personal (but no less amusing) video aimed directly at Fisher, and then Takei emerged in the midst of the feud in an effort to create peace among the stars, as well as fanboys the world over.

It seems Takei's efforts have failed for the time being. But hey, who really wants this to end? Until Mark Hamill and Leonard Nimoy get in on this action, it's not really a party, right?
