Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... Shazam... ?

Now that filming has wrapped for Shazam!, director David F. Sandberg has made a mashup parody teaser repurposing a brief yet memorable scene from Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s… you know what? It’s only about 20 seconds. See for yourself:

We see the family stranded on the house in the middle of a flood from Batman v Superman, looking up at the silhouette of a (possible) caped savior up in the sky. But when the camera closes in, instead of the Man of Steel, we see a familiar image of Zachary Levi as Shazam enjoying a soda. (We should point out that Shazam's secret identity is a 14-year-old boy.)

“Since everyone else is doing this...” writes Sandberg.

Now, on one hand, this could be the director just being a goof and having fun. But with Shazam! set to hit theaters April 5, 2019, it’s not like the guy could possibly have any downtime, so this could very well be part of Warner Bros.’ official promotional campaign for the film. Which means, could Billy Batson be the DC Extended Universe’s answer to Deadpool? Or at least be the source of some much-needed levity to the DCEU?

We’ll obviously just have to wait and see. And while we do, we should take this time to note that we still haven’t been given a trailer for Aquaman.
