The monstrous spider Shelob is making the jump from The Lord of the Rings into the interactive edition, as she comes to Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. In a new trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, Shelob appears in both spider and human form, offering her help to Talion... Celebrimbor is not so impressed, though, nor quick to trust.

Spiders are known, in most mythologies, to be tricksters, after all. Still, Shelob does show Talion quite a bit of the goings-on in Middle-Earth, including Gondor's last fortress in Mordor being in trouble. We also get clear looks at Sauron, and an intriguing take on Celebrimbor and Sauron's relationship from Shelob.

Check out the intense trailer below, and be prepared to decide for yourself whether or not the Spider can be trusted when Shadow of War hits PS4, Xbox One, and Windows 10 on October 10, 2017.

"Middle-earth: Shadow of War is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, winner of more than 50 industry awards—including the 2015 Game Developers Choice Awards’ Game of the Year, Outstanding Innovation in Gaming at the 2015 D.I.C.E. Awards and the BAFTA for Game Design. Developed by Monolith Productions, Middle-earth: Shadow of War features an original story with the return of Talion and Celebrimbor, who must go behind enemy lines to forge an army and turn all of Mordor against the Dark Lord, Sauron."
