Cameraman Jeff Cassidy (Warcraft: The Beginning, The Flash) has directed a short superhero film titled Sidekick that brings together Tom Cavanagh (The Flash), Josh Dallas (Once Upon a Time) and Emily Bett Rickards (Arrow).

The 15-minute movie centers on a father (Dallas) who tells his son (Christian Michael Cooper) a bedtime story about a superhero named Captain Strong (also played by Dallas), who fights the good fight against the villainous Darkman (Cavanagh) to save The Princess (Rickards). The synopsis says that Sidekick is “a short film about a struggling father who uses a bedtime story to impart an important life lesson to his son.”

While at first it appears that the kid’s parents are fighting, it soon becomes clear that it’s actually much more serious than that, and the father is using the story to teach his kid about being strong. He does that by introducing him as Captain Strong’s powerful sidekick, Shockwave. It’s actually a well-made, touching tale (the special effects are top-notch) that will definitely pull at your heartstrings.
