We heard a while back that Daniel Bruhl had joined Captain America: Civil War, and now we know who he might be playing.

Potential spoilers ahead for Captain America: Civil War!

A new casting report has surfaced that indicates Bruhl (Inglorious Basterds, Rush) could be playing the classic comic villain Baron Zemo. The character was created in the 1960s by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and he’s been butting heads with Cap for decades now in the comics.

The film will be based on the Civil War comic arc, which pits Cap against Iron Man in a somewhat political and ideological face off about how superheroes should conduct themselves. We’ve been wondering which baddie might also be in the mix to cause trouble for the heroes (apart from the trouble they’re causing each other), and this could be our answer.

If Bruhl really is playing Baron Zemo, he seems like a solid fit for the character. It’d also provide a classic comic baddie to help mix things up, along with the rumored addition of Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones and whatever is up with Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier. This is definitely shaping up to be one interesting project.

Do you think Bruhl would be a good option for Zemo? What direction would you like to see them take for Civil War?
