Star Trek actor Simon Pegg is in talks to jump aboard Steven Spielberg’s upcoming sci-fi movie Ready Player One.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pegg would join a cast that currently includes up-and-comers Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Apocalypse), Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel) and Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as the movie's villain.

So, who will Simon Pegg play? The role the geeky fan-fave actor is being tapped for is that of the co-creator of OASIS (a virtual reality world), Ogden Morrow. I don't know about you, but any movie with Simon Pegg in it is worth seeing in my book. That and the fact that he's going to work with Spielberg, well ... I'm sold.

Based on Ernest Cline’s 2011 best-selling and award-winning dystopian sci-fi novel -- and directed by Steven Spielberg, who'll turn his attention to a fifth Indiana Jones adventure with Harrison Ford next -- the movie is the midst of casting with filming eyed to begin in June.

Ready Player One is set in a virtual world called the OASIS, where teenager Wade Owen Watts/Parzival (Sheridan) finds himself in a deadly treasure hunt against other players (and some ruthless foes) when the game's founder dies and offers his fortune -- and the power to control OASIS -- as the ultimate-prize-to-kill-for.

Produced by Warner Bros., Village Roadshow Pictures and DreamWorks, Ready Player One will open in movie theaters on March 30, 2018.

Are you excited to see Simon Pegg join Steven Spielberg's new sci-fi movie?
