The Simpsons is gonna get really evil next Halloween when its 30th "Treehouse of Horror" episode hits the airwaves. That's because it will be the show's 666th episode, per Entertainment Weekly

“As we planned it in 1989!” said executive producer Al Jean. “I’d like to do more seasons, just to ensure that that doesn’t cause the end of the world."

It's all about the long con...

Every "Treehouse of Horror" episode comprises several anthological vignettes of horror and the supernatural in the Simpsons' town of Springfield. Like The Twilight Zone, many of the tales end in twists and have nothing to do with one another, or the rest of the show.

They have also been notable for high-profile guest voices and animators like Daniel Radcliffe, Guillermo del Toro, Sarah Silverman, James Earl Jones, Fran Drescher, Dr. Phil, Richard Lewis, Hugh Laurie, and more.

This year's "Treehouse of Horror" (No. 29) airs this Sunday, Oct. 21, and will, according to IMDB, feature: Homer winning an eating contest against Cthulu; Lisa going insane; Springfield being invaded by plant-like body snatchers; and Mr. Burns opening "a retirement home with some Jurassic upgrades."
